Ethan Hawke as Lee Raybon in The Lowdown season 2.

One of last year’s best shows, The Lowdown, begins its second season this week (look at that — a show turning out seasons on a regular schedule. Cool idea!). To say I’m looking forward to its return would be a gigantic understatement.

I have watched only about 15 minutes of season 2 as I write this (it’ll be considerably more by the time you’re reading it on Monday), so I can’t offer up a fully formed opinion of it here. But those 15 minutes introduce two of this season’s key additions in Tommy Lee Jones and Betty Gilpin and reinforce how Lee (Ethan Hawke) can’t get out of his own way enough to appreciate something good in his life — in this case, winning an award for his exposé on Dale Washberg (Tim Blake Nelson) that drove the story of season 1.

The handful of early reviews already published for this season are extremely positive, and at after four exquisite seasons of Reservation Dogs and a season-plus-15-minutes of The Lowdown, I’m in for whatever creator and showrunner Sterlin Harjo wants to make. The first season of The Lowdown is on Hulu, and season 2 premieres with two episodes at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on FX and Hulu. It will run weekly through November after that.

The calendar for this week is below. All times are ET/PT unless noted. For the most part, I’m just listing dates and times for returning shows; new ones will get a little more description.
