Apologies for getting this newsletter to you today rather than last night. I was doing some family stuff in the evening and by the time that wrapped up, it would have been midnight or later before it hit your inboxes. Better just to wait a bit.
The streaming ratings for the first week of June featured the return of Love Island USA, which was one of the biggest shows on any streaming platform last year — it ranked seventh among original series in the U.S. in 2025 — and looks like it’s on the way to being one of the biggest streaming shows again this year.
It’s Not My Thing, but I have a much greater understanding of why it is a lot of people’s things after listening to this episode of the TV Is Good podcast from Alan Sepinwall and Kathryn VanArendonk and reading this Defector story (gift link) by Kelsey McKinney.
Details on its performance below, along with the rest of the streaming charts for June 1-7.
Programming note: Because of the holiday weekend, on-air ratings will probably be delayed next week. So you’ll get a combined linear/streaming ratings post next Thursday, along with Monday’s premiere/specials calendar and a weekend data dive or other essay.
Also, in Monday’s newsletter I forgot to list Nathan’s hot dog eating contest. It’s at noon ET/9 a.m. PT on ESPN2, with ABC joining coverage at 12:30 p.m. ET/9:30 a.m. PT.
Onto the charts:
Overall top 10, June 1-7
Show/Movie | Streamer(s) | Minutes viewed in millions | Episode count |
Love Island USA* | Peacock/Disney+/Paramount+ | 1,306 | 253 |
Hoppers** | Disney+ | 1,161 | 1 |
Bluey | Disney+ | 859 | 154 |
Dutton Ranch*** | Paramount+ | 840 | 5 |
Grey's Anatomy | Hulu / Netflix | 834 | 467 |
The Four Seasons (2025) | Netflix | 799 | 16 |
The Big Bang Theory | HBO Max | 773 | 281 |
Spider-Noir | Prime Video | 739 | 8 |
Michael Jackson: The Verdict | Netflix | 731 | 3 |
SpongeBob SquarePants | Paramount+ | 672 | 336 |
*The 1.31 billion minutes for Love Island is almost 70 percent higher than last year’s opening week. Also, a note about the non-Peacock streamers listed next to it: Disney+ and Paramount+ still have the first three seasons of the show, which initially aired on CBS. Because Nielsen counts viewing of every episode of a series for the weekly total, they’re listed — but the vast majority of the watch time came undoubtedly came from the new episodes.
**Pixar’s movie premiered June 3 on Disney+ and had the best week for any streaming movie there since Zootopia 2 in March.
***Dutton Ranch has grown a little each week since it premiered. The Yellowstone spinoff was up about 7 percent from the prior week.

Show | Streamer(s) | Minutes viewed in millions | Episode count |
Euphoria* | HBO Max | 666 | 24 |
The Boroughs** | Netflix | 661 | 8 |
Off Campus | Prime Video | 483 | 8 |
The Boys | Prime Video | 432 | 40 |
The Witness (2026)*** | Netflix | 425 | 3 |
Your Friends & Neighbors | Apple TV | 403 | 19 |
*Euphoria had its series finale on May 31, so I’m guessing a good portion of the viewing time for this week was for that episode. As always, I’m listing HBO shows as originals for HBO Max since they stream simultaneously with their on-air run.
**A pretty sizable week three fall-off for The Boroughs, which dropped by more than 60 percent. That’s not entirely out of the ordinary for a binge-released show, but it may be a tipoff for why Netflix was so quick to cancel the show. As someone pointed out to me on Bluesky last week, more than half of its audience was in the United States, which is probably not an ideal distribution of viewing for Netflix.
***The Witness is a British miniseries about an infamous murder case in the early 1990s.

Show | Streamer(s) | Minutes viewed in millions | Episode count |
Criminal Minds* | Hulu / Paramount+ / Pluto TV | 655 | 362 |
Family Guy | Hulu | 537 | 470 |
Bob's Burgers | Hulu | 532 | 307 |
Young Sheldon** | HBO Max / Netflix | 525 | 141 |
The First 48 | Hulu / Netflix / Peacock / Pluto TV | 485 | 485 |
*A decent portion of Criminal Minds’ total is likely from viewing of new episodes on Paramount+. Despite the new run officially being titled Criminal Minds: Evolution, both Nielsen and Paramount treat it as a continuation of the original series. Since it only does 10-episode seasons, Evolution currently makes up only a little more than 10 percent of the full Criminal Minds catalog.
**Young Sheldon rejoins the charts for the first time in 13 months.

*Decent start for Netflix’s rom-com starring Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein. Goldstein also co-wrote the script with fellow Ted Lasso veteran Joe Kelly.
